Cars in Germany's City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers reported they were contacted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found many other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report initial examinations indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.

A senior representative commented the incident left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
